Representation of SGTU at Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Village- Adampur Dhadi, Dagroli and Rambass, District Charkhi Dadri
A Block level Camp on JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAAN was organized at Village Adampur Dhadi, Dagroli and Rambass, District Charkhi Dadri on August 26, 2019. Dr Mohinder Singh, Assistant Professor, (FAS) member of Community Action Group on the behalf of SGT University has participated in this camp. He highlighted the past and present status of water in India. He focused on the increased number of bore-wells, wells, faulty methods of irrigation and blind extraction of groundwater for irrigation. He also awarded the group about worst situation that India has witnessed with drastic increase in water demand for all uses: agricultural, industrial, and domestic, irrigation accounts for 90% of India’s freshwater withdrawals. India’s annual agricultural ground water withdrawal is the highest in the world followed by China and the United States. Therefore, very serious efforts towards water management in the country should focus on the management of irrigation. He also suggested the different water management practices like change in cropping pattern, crop diversification, water harvesting and afforestation. The group of farmers enthusiastically participated in awareness program. Total 200 farmers participated in this camp.
