India requires globally competitive and better trained agricultural human resource capital in agriculture to feed 18 percent of world’s population with 2.3 percent of the world’s land and about 4 percent of the fresh water. The establishment of State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) in the 1960s helped in ushering the Green Revolution, followed by White, Yellow, and Blue Revolutions mainly due to trained human resources.

Message from the Dean

Prof Ashok Kumar Yadav, PhD (England) is Professor of Agronomy with SGT University since 2020 after superannuating from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar where he worked as Director, Principal and Sr. Coordinator. He has prolonged experience of teaching and education management, research, extension, seed production and marketing. Dr. Yadav is Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Indian Society of Agronomy and Plant Physiology. He has been Visiting Professor in CSIRO, Australia as FAO Fellow and Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences, Japan. Dr. Yadav developed a new course of Crop Physiology for UG students and updated and modified many PG courses. Dr. Yadav was awarded many ICAR, State, University and Professional Society Awards. He edited one book and authored more than 35 book chapters, 220 research publications in international and national journals indexed in Scopus, UGC care and NAAS ranking and many popular articles in news paper and magazines. Dr. Yadav is member of Advisory Committee of ICAR- National Agricultural Science Fund, Promotion of teachers in CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and Working Group on Micro-irrigation, Govt. of Haryana. He has been nominated by ASRB as Chairman of Promotion Committees of Technical persons of many ICAR Institutes, CSSRI, Karnal, CIRB, Hisar and NRCE, Hisar.

Programs Offered

In order to provide graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills and to follow the ICAR Fifth Deans Committee recommendations for course curricula, the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences at SGT University strives to be the best agriculture college in Delhi NCR and Gurgaon. To achieve this, the college has world-class infrastructure, including modern digital interactive classrooms and fully equipped laboratories for studying a variety of agricultural fields such as floriculture, vegetables, medicinal and aromatic plants, and field crops. Additionally, the college offers unique in-house modules for skill and entrepreneurship development, including vermi-composting, mushroom farming, beekeeping, organic farming, and waste management.

To ensure that students have a comfortable and convenient experience, the college provides AC and non-AC student accommodation, cafeteria facilities, and medical and transport services. Moreover, the college has sprawling playgrounds for students to enjoy recreational activities. The central library is also available for students to conduct research and further their knowledge. The FASC has farm land dedicated to various crops, which adds to the hands-on learning experience provided by the college.
